Several initiatives that were launched under the aegis of BGAN have become sustained campaigns. For BankBusters and Boston Fair Trade Action (BOFTA) specifically, the working groups have become autonomous organizations unto themselves. Using the formal consensus model pioneered by Food Not Bombs, each of the groups self-determined their decision-making structure and association with BGAN.
