Collaboration and Networking

The Himalayan Trust has a long term commitment to extending continued support for the full realisation of project goals in its area of work. For purposes of project implementation, it has set up regional offices in its project areas.

HT also acts and extends its interventions through strong local organisations or groups already in existence. These grassroots institutions or groups perform a vital bridging function through which the HT’s assistance is channelised. As they also have a permanent stake in the project areas, they enable project objectives to be extended over a long term and have a multiplier effect in the entire region. The Himalaya Trust’s awareness campaigns are also conducted through the local institutions, ensuring a continuous presence and strong local motivation. The Himalaya Trust’s membership consists of such village-based groups or individuals in Garhwal, Kumaon, and Himachal Pradesh. The Himalaya Trust responds to their need for professional expertise or financial support, enabling them to extend their activities and network, helping to develop local leadership and initiative at every level.

The Himalaya Trust’s support contributes to the strengthening of local institutions, creating a nucleus for other groups to link up with, and generates conditions for future independent action of all such affiliated groups.
